On July 19, 2024 (Friday), a significant technology failure occurred due to a faulty software update from CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm. This update affected approximately 8.5 million devices globally that rely on the Microsoft Windows operating system.

A lesser-known incident was that Microsoft Azure Cloud experienced an overnight outage across the Central US region on the same day.

Fortunately, V-Work’s solutions, including WeManage Procurement and Azure hosting, were not directly affected by the incidents, as we are not using CrowdStrike security products or the Azure US Central region services. Our customers can rest assured that their data and services were not compromised as part of the incident.

Only one aspect of our cloud services on WeManage Procurement SaaS was affected, which is our online payment service integrated with iPay88.

  • Duration: 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM on 19 July 2024
  • Impact: Payment transactions for subscription fees and tender fees could not be performed. Fortunately, no payment transactions were triggered during this period, and none of our users were affected.
  • Resolution: iPay88 has since restored their services, and no further action is required.

No other impact was detected for our bespoke WeManage procurement implementations, or our other solutions.

V-Work shall continue monitoring and take precautions on subsequent developments of the incident, and keep our customers and stakeholders informed.
